The Youngstown Initiative
The Episcopal Church has long had a heart for the city. Urban areas are often a wealth of culture, ideas and diversity. They, however, often also host more than their share of poverty, struggle, and strife. The Episcopal Church is uniquely positioned to be the light of Christ in the midst of city – to be hope in the face of hopelessness.
Think of The Youngstown Initiative as an outstretched hand. It is a hand coming out of the heart of Youngstown; it is a hand reaching out to you. We are offering you the opportunity to come and bring hope into a city where hope is in short supply.
Please read over the enclosed brochure. If you feel that any or all of the people of your parish would be interested in bringing their gifts to the Youngstown area, let us begin a conversation. We want to work with you to create a service experience that best utilizes your exceptional passions and gifts.
That hath stood too long a dream,
Whose laws are love, whose crown is servanthood,
And where the sun that shineth is God’s grace for human good.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Jeremiah Williamson
St. John's Episcopal Church
