The Sheadle Trust
Dear Members of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio,
Jasper H. Sheadle, a devoted Episcopalian, was an executive in the iron and steel industry of Northeast Ohio. He died in 1916. His will provided for his wife, Kate, and, upon her death, established a trust “for the purpose of providing and paying suitable pensions and giving such suitable aid and assistance…. to aged, married couples and aged women residing in Cuyahoga County or Mahoning County, Ohio.” The Sheadle Trust, administered by Key Bank and a board of trustees, continues to provide meaningful stipends to women and men who “have had their income reduced or cut off, so that they are without sufficient means to obtain the necessities or comforts of life.”
The Sheadle Trust invites women and married couples to apply for benefits. Applicants should be age 65 or over, residents of Cuyahoga or Mahoning Counties, not receiving Medicaid, and born in the United States. No single men will be accepted. Members of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio are particularly encouraged to apply.
