Carlotta East Scholarship

The Carlotta East Scholarship Fund was established to provide aid to Episcopal women who need scholarship aid to further their education, to upgrade their skills before returning to the work force or to take religious training.

The fund established in 1945 with a bequest of $7,874.88 is invested with the Trustees of the Diocese of Ohio. In June, 1988, the invested amount was increased by $5,000.00 when the Diocesan Episcopal Church Women (ECW) Board voted to transfer this amount from the Carlotta East liquid assets to the principal of the Carlotta East Scholarship Fund. The dividends and interest from this investment are used to grant scholarship aid to Episcopal women. The usual grant for scholarship aid is approximately $500.00 per applicant. Exceptions in amounts granted may be made by the Carlotta East Scholarship Committee.

If additional donations are received for Carlotta East Scholarships, that amount is added to the amount available for distribution to candidates.

The Carlotta East Scholarship Committee reviews grant applications and submits recommendations to the Diocese of Ohio ECW Board Meeting which is held prior to the Diocese of Ohio ECW Annual Meeting, usually held in May. The Diocese of Ohio ECW Board reviews the submitted grant applications and usually approves the recommendations from the Carlotta East Scholarship Committee.
