January 5, 2012 Minutes of the South Central Mission Area
The January meeting of the South Central Mission Area Council was called to order by Chairperson Robert Bennett at 6:15 p.m.
A lovely holiday table was set and various assorted hot macaroni casseroles were available along with some fresh veggies, veggie dips and desserts. At each of the place settings was also a “pen” from St. Matthew’s that we were able to keep.
Those present were as follows: Dana Jones, Kathy Mamborg, and Rev. Kay Ashby; St. Matthews, Ashland, OH; Robert Bennett, Harcourt Parish, Gambier; June Hulit, St. James, Wooster; Rev. Joe Ashby, Grace, Mansfield; Dale Traven, Barbara Traven, and Rev. David Sipes, St. Mark’s, Shelby; and Sister Nadine, Tabor Cottage.

November 3, 2011 Minutes of the South Central Mission Area
The November 3rd meeting of the South Central Mission Area Council was called to order by Chairperson Robert Bennett at 6:20 p.m.
Craig Lewis, (ECLA) pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Marion, and supply minister for St. Paul’s Episcopal, lead us in prayer prior to the meal. Scott Crider single-handedly prepared his Baked Pasta with Marinara Sauce, steamed vegetables, assorted drinks, garlic bread, a tossed salad and decorative fall-colored cupcakes and cookies.
Robert asked each of us to introduce ourselves as there were several attendees due to the upcoming November Diocese Convention being held in Cleveland. The attendees, SC MAC members and guests present were as follows: Pastor Craig Lewis (ELCA) of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Marion and also the supply minister for St. Paul’s Episcopal of Marion; Scott Crider of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Marion; Grace Episcopal Church of Mansfield; Rev. Joe Ashby, Jo Richards, Cathy Evans, Lyn Baker, Jim Baker and Pam Bobbitt-Purim; St. Paul’s of Mt. Vernon; Sharon Blaydes, Cecelia McClelland and Lauren Bennett; Rev. Kay Ashby of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Ashland; St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Shelby; Rev. The July 7 meeting of the South Central Mission Area Council was called to order by Chairperson, Robert Bennett at 6:00 p.m.
The following SC MAC members were in attendance: Mike Lowe and Barbara Traven, St. Mark’s, Shelby; Sharon Blaydes and Sally Parsons, St. Paul’s, Mt. Vernon; Damon Hickey and June Hulit; St. James, Wooster; Toma Lord and Robert Bennett; Harcourt Parish, Gambier.
Minutes from the May 5th meeting in Shelby were approved and seconded. They will be emailed to Martha Wright, Communications, of the Diocese in Cleveland.
Short break for everyone for the evening meal prepared by Harcourt members. Robert Bennett said a prayer for the evening meal and safety in our travels.

May 5, 2011: Revised Minutes of South Central Mission Area Council Meeting
Thursday, May 5, 2011 Meeting at St. Mark’s in Shelby, Ohio.
The meeting was called to order at 6:17 p.m. by Chairperson Toma Lord.
Discussion and election of officers was held and voted upon for 2011 as follows: Robert Bennett, Harcourt Parish, for the Chair Person; Rev. David S. Sipes, St. Mark’s, Shelby, for Vice Chair; Jo Richards, Grace, Mansfield, for Treasurer and the place of financial record will be Grace Episcopal in Mansfield. As determined at the last SC MAC meeting in March, June Hulit, St. James, Wooster, Secretary. Current SC MAC Officers will run through March of 2012.
Discussion of three-year terms was discussed but would have to be determined at the Diocesan Convention.
The Rev. Sipes led us in prayer. He was the only priest at this meeting. Other priests were unable to attend for various reasons such as other business commitments, vacations, etc. Karl Stevens, St. Paul’s Mt. Vernon, and his family are moving to Columbus. He did not want to be considered for any 2012 office because he will be commuting between Columbus and Mt. Vernon.

March 17, 2011 South Central Mission Area Minutes
Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.
At St. Paul’s in Mt. Vernon

President Toma Lord called the meeting to order at 6:10 pm.
The following members were present: Toma Lord; Karl Stevens; Sister Nadine from the Convent of the Transfiguration in Glendale, OH; Joe Ashby; Jo Richards; Kay Ashby; Robert E. Bennett; Helen Svoboda-Baber; Mike Lowe, Barbara Traven and June E. Hulit. Guests included: Sister Nadine from the Transfiguration in Glendale, OH and Deacon Gretchen Greene, who spoke on the Commission on Global and Domestic Mission.
Each attendee was asked if they had any current situations or issues to be offered in prayer. Rev. Karl Stevens lead us in prayer after each person reported on the activities of their parish.
One of the first items on the agenda, June Hulit resigned as treasurer and requested the position of secretary for 2011-2012. Karl Stevens greeted this suggestion with delight, and the Chair accepts and is pleased to nominate June for the position of Secretary for the year 2011-2012. It was voted unanimously. Other offices for MAC will be discussed further and confirmed at the May 5th meeting in Shelby.
Sister Nadine from the Convent of the Transfiguration is staying at Tabor Cottage in Butler, Ohio. She discussed the possible plans that Tabor Cottage may be turned into a retreat house.

PARISH REPORTS:
St. Matthew's, Ashland - Dana reported that St. Matt's held a historical service this summer. They will start using the Godly Play curriculum this year. Helen suggested that they get in touch with Sheila Svoboda at St. Paul's, Akron. St. Matt's day will be on the Sunday following September 21st. They're in the process of hiring Ashland University students as section leaders. They already have an outstanding student choir director.
