The Diocesan Health Ministry Task Force
Rationale:
The 74th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, meeting in Columbus in 2006, passed Resolution A124 establishing a Standing Commission on Health and Human Affairs. In that resolution the duties of the Commission include (v) “collecting and developing resources and teaching materials related to access to health care for the use of the diocese, congregations, and individuals,” and (vi) “advocating health ministry in and through local Episcopal churches.”
In response to Resolution A124, the 192nd Convention of the Diocese of Ohio established a Health Ministry Task Force for three years consisting of lay and clergy members appointed by the Bishop to act as liaison with the Standing Commission on Health. The Task Force would like to continue its mandate in the Diocese of Ohio to work with mission areas and other entities to empower, educate and advocate for people within the Diocese of Ohio by providing support to existing health ministries, developing new health ministries, and providing health and wellness education and resources.
