The Mission Inventory has been developed and compiled by the Commission for Global and Domestic Mission, in hope that it will be used in at least the following three ways:

  • To inform the parishes of the diocese about the range of service projects and service work carried on throughout the diocese;
  • To provide contacts and information that will help members of the diocese engage more collaboratively in service work, and prayer and reflection in support of that work, in all the regions of the diocese; and
  • To stimulate yet more congregations and individuals in our diocese to give themselves and their resources in joyful service to the world as the risen body of Jesus Christ.

The Episcopal Public Policy Network Policy Alert

Resolved, That the Church recognizes that a faithful commitment to voting is an extension of our baptismal covenant to "strive for justice and peace and the dignity of every human being" and asks all Episcopalians to actively engage in advocating for voter rights, encouraging voter registration, getting out the vote, and volunteering to assist voters at the polls. (Executive Council 02/2004)

That Executive Council resolution affirms that voting is a critical part of our Episcopal call to "strive for justice and peace among all people." While Election Day may seem a long way away, now is the time to make sure that people are registered to vote and to start planning activities to help people get out to vote.

Are You Registered to Vote? Not sure if you are registered to vote? Wondering where your polling place is? Need to find out if your state has early voting or absentee ballots available? The National Association of Secretaries of State has put together a web site that can help answer all of these questions and more.

What Can Your Church Do? Churches can take part in non-partisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts. The Interfaith Alliance has an excellent resource available online to guide you through how houses of worship can be involved in elections without jeopardizing their tax status.

Planning an Election Related Activity? Is your church a polling place? Is your youth group planning to leave reminders about Election Day while trick-or-treating? Will your breakfast prayer group go to the polls together? We'd love to hear about your plans or things that you have done during past elections. Share your story here!
